Phase 2: Build

We've got land - now what?

Now we build a school. In order to do this we are going to need your help. We need to raise $50,000 to start the building process and a total of $250,000 for the entire school to be completed. This construction stage of development, Phase 2, will proceed as follows:

• Clearing the land, probably by hand laborers with machetes
• Constructing a fence around the property
• Laying the foundations for the different buildings
• Digging and constructing a well
• Installing electricity and hopefully getting internet access
• Building each separate classroom, dormitory building, lunchroom, meeting room, etc.

The money will be used for the construction of 3 central school buildings – 9 classrooms, teacher’s quarters, and a community building - digging a bore hole, dormitories and showers for the girls, restrooms and kitchen.

As this process unfolds, we will continue our planning and fund raising here at home. We'll need your help, though, to make it all happen. Here are some specific ways you can help:

• Host a fundraising party at your home (we will supply you with all the necessary marketing material for the event: brochures, video, pictures etc...)
• Have a garage sale, with proceeds to benefit Mercy's Village
• Make a direct donation to Mercy's Village
• Spread the word to family, friends, or co-workers who may be interested in helping out or hosting a party themselves.
• Volunteer. We always need an extra set of hands for our events and fund raising efforts.
